At New Student Orientation, your student will have the opportunity to

  • Meet with your academic advisor to finalize their class schedule
  • Learn more about student involvement opportunities and campus traditions
  • Discover tools and resources to support their academic success
  • Meet and socialize with current and new UAH students

Event Information

Freshman Orientation is a two-day event. Check-in is from 8:30-9:30 in the morning on Day One, and the event will conclude by 1:00 pm on Day Two.

Students have the opportunity to spend the night in an on-campus residence hall on Day One of Orientation. Housing check-in for students will begin at 8:00 am on Day One. Accommodation options available in the Huntsville area for parents and guests can be found HERE.

  • New Student Orientation is a program run through the Office of Admissions to acclimate new freshmen and transfer students to all aspects of UAH’s campus. Orientation programming introduces students to available resources that will aid in their transition to college academics, residential living, and other student involvement opportunities. Orientation is to ensure that students feel confident as they balance the new challenges of successfully adjusting to college life.

  • As soon as they’ve decided that they will be enrolling at UAH for the Fall 2024 semester! We encourage students to sign up as soon as possible as sessions fill up quickly!

  • Yes! We have developed specific programming and sessions to help you feel comfortable as your student transitions from high school to college.

What else should parents know?

  • Parents and guests will need to make off-campus overnight arrangements during Orientation. Only students will spend the night on campus.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as you'll have the opportunity to explore campus during your time at Orientation.
  • Have a conversation with your student regarding class registration prior to Orientation. Only students will attend an advising session.
