Dates and Deadlines

Master’s Thesis, Doctoral Dissertation, and DNP Project Dates and Deadlines*

Spring

Each deadline below is the last possible day to complete the corresponding action.

February 1 - Application to Graduate
Before March 11 - Student submits draft to committee based on due date set by Committee Chair
March 11 - Oral Defense (Department submits Notification of Defense two weeks before and Report of Oral Examination/Defense two days after the defense)
March 12 to March 20 - Department/Program submits Kuali Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project Signature Form
Note: Form may take approximately 5-7 business days to reach College Dean.
March 27 - College Dean receives Signature Form with manuscript attached for approval and signature
April 5 - Completed Kuali Signature Form reaches the Graduate School
April 6 - Student uploads Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project to ProQuest
April 15 - Non-Thesis Final Oral Exam
Last Day of Examinations (noon) - Student completes copyediting Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project

Summer

Each deadline below is the last possible day to complete the corresponding action.

June 1  - Application to Graduate
Before June 15 - Student submits draft to committee based on due date set by Committee Chair
June 15 - Oral Defense (Department submits Notification of Defense two weeks before and Report of Oral Examination/Defense two days after the defense)
June 16 to June 21 - Department/Program submits Kuali Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project Signature Form
Note: Form may take approximately 5-7 business days to reach College Dean.
June 27 - College Dean receives Signature Form with manuscript attached for approval and signature
June 29 - Completed Kuali Signature Form reaches the Graduate School
June 30 - Student uploads Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project to ProQuest
July 15 - Non-Thesis Final Oral Exam

Fall

Each deadline below is the last possible day to complete the corresponding action.

September 1 - Application to Graduate
Before October 25 - Student submits draft to committee based on due date set by Committee Chair
October 25 - Oral Defense (Department submits Notification of Defense two weeks before and Report of Oral Examination/Defense two days after the defense)
October 26 to October 29 - Department/Program submits Kuali Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project Signature Form
Note: Form may take approximately 5-7 business days to reach College Dean.
November 1 - College Dean receives Signature Form with manuscript attached for approval and signature
November 5 - Completed Kuali Signature Form reaches the Graduate School
November 6 - Student uploads Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project to ProQuest
November 15 - Non-Thesis Final Oral Exam
Last Day of Examinations (noon) - Student completes copyediting Thesis/Dissertation/DNP Project

* These dates have been adjusted to give students more time to submit; therefore, these deadlines are firm dates. The thesis/dissertation/DNP project must be approved and the Signature Form signed by the Committee Chair/Research Advisor, committee members, Department Chair/Program Coordinator, College Dean, and student and submitted to the Graduate School by the posted dates above. The thesis/dissertation/DNP project must be uploaded to ProQuest for copyediting by the posted dates above. The student must complete the copyediting process by noon on the last day of final exams in order to graduate. Dates falling on Saturday, Sunday, or during Spring Break will be extended to the following Monday. Dates falling on a university-observed holiday will be extended to the next business day. Subsequent deadlines will not shift.
