written by admin

Valerie (B.A.History), a retired UAHuntsville employee, participated in an invited talk at the Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature in Westport, CT, in October 2010. She has been assisting University of Madison-Wisconsin PhD candidate, Sharon McQueen, with research for her thesis by providing family documents and memorabilia relating to one of the research subjects, Robert Lawson. The Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature, sponsored by the Westport Public Library, was established in honor of Ms. Seaquist’s great-uncle, Robert Lawson, a writer and illlustrator of children’s books, and is named for his estate, Rabbit Hill. Ms. McQueen’s thesis focuses on the writing of The Story of Ferdinand (1936) authored by Murno Leaf and illustrated by Robert Lawson. Prior to the talk, the current owners of Rabbit Hill invited Ms. Seaquist and others to a luncheon providing her the opportunity to visit the home of her great-uncle.
