UAH will be hosting events supporting the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) on September 20 across the UAH campus.

The United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization officially proclaimed September 20 as IDUS, which has been an annual tradition since 2016. UAH began celebrating IDUS in October 2022 with sporting events organized by the Sports and Fitness Management Club. The celebration is designed to help promote links between universities and their local communities with sport, physical activity and healthy living playing the leading role.

The event is sponsored by Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU), a group founded in 1949 to help expand the role and reach of university sport around the world. FISU organizes world-class sports and educational events, all with the mission of providing university students with the opportunity to connect and exchange with students from across the globe in a collaborative and competitive environment.

The day of celebration presents an opportunity to share knowledge on key issues relating to the development of sport and the University Sports Movement worldwide, and to improve awareness of the importance of sport in educational institutions, as well as FISU’s mission, programs, policies and priorities.
