The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will continue its Tennessee Resident Scholarship Program into the 2025-2026 academic year. This program offers in-state tuition to new first-time, full-time freshmen students from the state of Tennessee who meet the requirements for a merit or athletic scholarship.

“We appreciate being able to provide an outstanding UAH education to more students from Tennessee,” says Dr. David Puleo, UAH provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “North Alabama and South Tennessee have tremendous workforce needs, and the continuing pilot program helps us serve our community.”

UAH is part of The University of Alabama System (UAS). The UAS Board of Trustees approved the implementation of the Tennessee Resident Scholarship Program at UAH in November 2020 and approved the continuation of the program during a meeting of the board on Nov. 3.

Prior to the start of this program, UAH had offered in-state tuition to residents of nine Tennessee counties within a 50-mile radius of the UAH campus. The Tennessee Resident Scholarship Program expands the offer to students who have a permanent address in the entire state of Tennessee and who meet the scholarship requirements.

Scholarships are four-year awards for fall and spring semesters, renewable each semester based on full-time student status and satisfactory academic progress. Scholarship consideration will be given to all first-time freshmen who are offered admission to UAH. No separate scholarship application is required.

Award amounts are based on each student’s high school GPA, highest ACT or SAT score from one test sitting, and residency status. Students are encouraged to take the ACT and/or SAT multiple times.
