UAH College of Nursing held mock disaster drill

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (April 16, 2013) - Last week, students from UAH’s College of Nursing staged a mock disaster drill at Charger Hospital in Wilson Hall. This year’s drill included several scenarios including an F5 tornado touchdown with UAH used as a back up mass casualty site. Several “public health emergencies” also occurred during the drill, including exposure to chemical agents, gas leaks, and communicable disease outbreaks. Nursing students also had to deal with “belligerent family members,” psychiatric patients” and keep “media representatives” informed of changing situations. This is the College of Nursing’s 10th disaster drill, which is a part of the community health course.
