The UAH Brand
The logo and identity graphics for The University of Alabama in Huntsville ensure consistency in branding campuswide and create a consistent brand experience for the university.
The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) expects all marketing materials designed by our campus customers to adhere to the logo and branding guidelines and be submitted to the OMC for review and approval. Proper usage of the UAH approved color palette and fonts will be reviewed in all materials for brand consistency.

Approved Acronym Usage
- Spell out "The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH)" upon first usage, making sure to capitalize the “t” in “The”.
- After the first reference to the university, you may use "UAH" without parenthesis throughout the written material.
- For pages on the UAH website, it is acceptable to refer to the university as simply "UAH" because the full logo is displayed at the top of each page.
- Do not refer to The University of Alabama in Huntsville as "UAHuntsville."
The UAH Logo
Official logo files for The University of Alabama in Huntsville may be downloaded from this page. By downloading any of the provided logo files, you are agreeing to use the UAH logo in accordance with the standards outlined on this page.
You must obtain approval from the OMC before purchasing or printing any products using the UAH logo, other logos and insignias, or custom artwork that references the university in any way, for a UAH-branded promotional item or event, such as a T-shirt, flyer, pamphlets, or awards. This is done to help protect the brand and reputation of UAH.
Choosing a download format
- EPS files are best for print. EPS files are vector-based, meaning they can be enlarged to any size without losing quality.
- PNG files are best for web. PNG files can easily be used in a variety of programs and settings; however, they are raster-based and cannot be enlarged beyond their original size.
The Primary Logo
The UAH logo consists of the brandmark and the university name spelled out. The combination of these two elements into a specific identifier configuration is a consistent part of our brand identity. The primary and preferred logo is the stacked and centered version:

Primary Logo Variations
The standard logo should be used when possible. However, occasionally the background color/image or the printing method may require the logo to be displayed in one of the following alternate color schemes. For readability and impact it is important to choose the version that provides sufficient contrast to the background you will be using.




Minimum Spacing

To avoid crowding, a minimum of negative space equal to the height of the university name (shown as x) is required on all sides.
Minimum Size

For legibility, the total width of the logo should not be smaller than 1.5" in print, or 108 pixels on screen.
The Secondary Logo
A left-justified horizontal version can be used as an alternate when the logo location does not support the primary logo. This horizontal version cannot be modified in any way, including any additional wording. Usage of this logo must be pre-approved by the OMC. Click the yellow button above to contact us for approval.

Secondary Logo Variations
The standard logo should be used when possible. However, occasionally the background color/image or the printing method may require the logo to be displayed in one of the following alternate color schemes. For readability and impact it is important to choose the version that provides sufficient contrast to the background you will be using.

Logo Violations

Do not change the color of the logo

Do not stretch the logo out of proportion

Do not use the logo smaller than 1.5" or 108px

Do not rotate the logo

Do not encroach on the minimum negative space around the logo

Do not cover or obstruct the logo

Do not apply any effects such as drop shadows or strokes to the logo

Do not use a logo that does not provide sufficient contrast with the background

Do not change the typeface, size, or content of the wordmark in the logo

Do not separate parts of the logo or modify the logo in any way

Do not use old versions of the UAH logo

Do not use any logos that read "UAHuntsville"
Brandmark-Only UAH Logo

Do not use the brandmark-only UAH logo without permission. The brandmark-only UAH logo is used only in circumstances where space is limited and the full logo has already been introduced. To obtain this logo file and permission to use this logo, please contact the OMC at omc@uah.edu.
UAH Athletics Logo

The UAH Chargers logo is only to be used when advertising UAH Athletics. It is not to be used when advertising the university. Any other use of the Chargers logo or any of its elements must first be approved by UAH
Athletics and must also be approved by OMC. The logo cannot be modified or redesigned.
Entity (Co-branded) Logos
The UAH logo system allows for individual recognition of all colleges, offices, and departments without sacrificing the brand established in the primary system. Logo unit lockups are available in the following configurations. These are created and approved solely by the OMC and may not be redesigned to appear otherwise. You may use an identifier on all communications pieces, excluding the uah.edu website. For more information about co-branded logos, contact omc@uah.edu.


Promotional Entity Logos
Alternative department logo unit lockups are available in the following configurations. Many of these configurations already exist and are in use. Registered student organizations and other clubs may also use this configuration for representation. These are less formal and only to be used internally or for promotional items only. They must be created by the OMC and may not be redesigned to appear otherwise.


Certain promotional products are limiting in terms of imprint space. In rare cases, the university name may be removed to allow for better readability of the brandmark and program name. These are created and approved solely by the Office of Marketing and Communications and may not be redesigned to appear otherwise.


The UAH Seal

The institutional seal should be used for formal representations, including diplomas, notary seals, and certificates. Any other usage is unauthorized. The primary UAH logo, as represented in this style guide, must be used as the only signature mark representing The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Fonts
Red Hat Text is the official, approved typeface (font) used in print and across the UAH website. It is a free-to-use, sans-serif Google font with many weights appropriate for everything from titles to body copy. You can download and install the font files at fonts.google.com.
Please note that, while Avenir is no longer our approved typeface, OMC will still use it within our logo system and in wayfinding signage. Avenir can no longer be used on the website or on any social media or online advertising posts. Contact OMC with any questions at OMC@uah.edu

Alternative Typefaces
Red Hat Text may be installed and used within Canva.com and other software that uses Google system fonts. In cases where only system fonts may be used, you may substitute Arial or Helvetica. Century Gothic is no
longer approved for use.
If you use Emma for email marketing, please use Montserrat in UAH blue (#0077C8) for titles and content section headers, and Arial at 16 pixels for paragraph text.
