Brittany Parker, a Communication Arts Senior, interned at Mastermind Gaming in Fall 2024. She graciously shared her internship experience and highlighted how her education in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences contributed to her success.
About the internship:
My internship at Mastermind Gaming was an incredible chance to combine my passion for gaming with hands-on marketing experience. I had the opportunity to create social media content, design promotional materials, and help plan their Grand Opening, which was a huge success. One highlight was analyzing social media metrics and running successful campaigns that boosted community interactions and positioned Mastermind Gaming as a local leader in the gaming community. This experience pushed me to be more strategic and creative, making me even more excited about pursuing a career in social media marketing.
How my CAHS education helped:
My time at UAH in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHS) was not just about learning but about applying that knowledge in real-world situations during my internship. Classes like Advertising and Social Media Marketing taught me how to create content that connects with people. Mass Media in America helped me understand how to tailor messages to different audiences. I also drew on what I learned in Crisis Communication when solving problems on the fly. Everything I’ve learned in class clicked into place during this internship. I felt the relevance of my education as I confidently tackled new challenges, demonstrating the practical value of my academic journey.

About the Communication Arts Major:
UAH's Communication Arts program provides students with practical, critical, historical, and theoretical perspectives on human communication, preparing them for work, social life, and further academic studies. The program is designed for students who can write, speak, think, analyze, and imagine; our classes enhance all those skills. For more information, visit the Communication Arts page on UAH’s website.
