July 21, 2021 As published in the RSA June Advisor, legislative changes were made that will impact Tier II members. Tier II members are those who did not participate in the Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) or Employees' Retirement System (ERS) prior to January 1, 2013. Effective October 1, 2021, Tier II members are allowed to convert sick leave to service credit at retirement. Tier II members will begin paying 6.2% (7.2% for certified law enforcement officers) of salary rather than 6% (7% for law enforcement) beginning with the October 15, 2021, payroll check.
