Join us for the 2025 Rocket City Weather Fest on February 8th from 10 AM to 4 PM in Huntsville, Alabama! Hosted by the American Meteorological Society / National Weather Association Student Chapter at UAH, this exciting annual event brings together meteorology enthusiasts, students, professionals, and the local community for a day full of weather education and fun.

The event will feature a variety of interactive activities across multiple locations, with the Shelby Center at UAH serving as the primary venue. Engage with local meteorologists, and participate in all-day activities!

Kid's Experiments and Activities, Tours of SWIRLL, Exhibitor Booths and Vehicles

  • Keynote Speaker: James Spann will present on Severe Weather Communication - Where Do We Go From Here? at the Charger Union Theater.
  • Weather Briefing: Delivered by AES students, providing the latest insights into current weather patterns.

    • Abigail Whiteside McCain (CFD Research) on private sector meteorology
    • Danielle Dozier (WHNT) discussing broadcast meteorology

    • Christina Amiot (National Weather Service) on careers in the NWS
  • Student Research Panel: Featuring students Connor Welch, Kelly Carmer, and Zebulon Leffler discussing their weather-related research.
  • Weather Trivia: Weather trivia competition put your knowledge to the test against others. 
  • Hurricane Helene: Lessons Learned and Beyond – Dr. Chen will share critical insights from Hurricane Helene.
