The Emerging Leaders program is built specifically for first-year Chargers to explore leadership through a lens that is likely quite different from a traditional view of leadership. The goal of the program is to support first-year students in the college transition by learning about leadership through self-reflection, community service, and leadership theory. Participants take part in interactive large-group sessions and workshops where the theory curriculum is covered. Subsequently, the cohort breaks down into smaller groups where the topic is dissected and discussed through self-reflection and personal experience. Small groups are led by current upperclassmen in leadership positions across campus. These small groups provide the opportunity to form a community of fellow first-year students who grow and learn together through guided conversations.
