In this talk, we study and obtain under some reasonable assumptions, the existence and the stability of mild solutions to some classes of second-order evolution equations of Gurtin-Pipkin type in a Hilbert space. To illustrate our results, two examples will be studied at the end of the talk --- one of which is the well-known Kirchoff plate equation. Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m. in the Math Office (SST 258A).
