Each session will be held on the first 3 Thursdays of February (3rd, 10th and 17th) from 3-4PM, and will focus on information to get students started in undergraduate research! The informal session will be held in the Shelby Center for Science and Technology (SST) Room #154 (Faculty Research Center). Feb. 3: Session #1 Introduction to Undergraduate Research In this session we will briefly cover - what is undergraduate research? Why do research? How does it connect to graduate school or a job? What are the benefits? What are some types of opportunities for undergraduates? How to contact the Office of Undergraduate Research. Feb. 10: Session #2 Exploring Research Opportunities In this session we will briefly cover - what is the right mindset needed to look for opportunities? How do I find information on research and research opportunities? Who should I be talking to? Feb. 17: Session #3 Finding/Contacting a Mentor In this module we will discuss strategies for finding and making contact with a potential mentor. All majors and grade levels are welcome! These sessions will be informative and informal, so come with am open mind and any questions that you might have!
