The Blackfriary provided religious guidance as well as a final resting place for lay individuals living in and around Trim. Following its dissolution under Henry VIII, the friary continued to be used for burial by the Catholic population. In the 1750s, it was sold as a quarry and its buildings systematically demolished. The resulting field became a locus for farming activities and the internment of unbaptized infants. This talk traces the history of the Blackfriary, illuminating its long relationship with the town of Trim. Free and open to the public.
