DON'T GIVE UP ON PEOPLE Arts & Entertainment Tuesday, February 4, 2020- February 27, 2020 The event started -1696 days agoMultiday event - 24 days Wilson Hall Gallery Wilson Hall 160 Mandy Fitzhugh Wallace's paintings and objects stem from decades of close observation of the world around her, as well as a fascination with the mind’s alternate versions of that world. There is never just one voice, single storyline or view in her work. Instead, the paintings pose narrative as both a playful and menacing riddle. The viewer is drawn in by the lure of narrative, but the moment we step inside, we are destabilized and spectacularly bewildered by a simultaneous representation of past, present, and future. Mandy Fitzhugh Wallace studied with Robert Colescott at the San Francisco Art Institute and received her master’s degree in Visual Studies from UC Berkeley. Her work can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. and her most recent solo exhibition was at Minnesota Street Projects in San Francisco. She has also appeared in group invitational exhibitions at the University of North Alabama and at the Georgine Clark Alabama Artists Gallery. Born in Tuscaloosa, Wallace lives and works in Oakland, California. Please join us for a reception and artist talk on Thursday, February 27th, from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Exhibit and reception free and open to the public. Gallery hourse are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
