Library Closed on Monday, February 10

Due to emergency water repairs on the north side of campus, the Salmon Library will be closed physically for entirety of Monday, February 10. It should re-open on Tuesday, February 11. Our online materials will remain available. Email us at library@uah.edu if you need any assistance.

Events this Week

Hand Sewing Accessories

It will be a busy week at the Salmon Library. Starting on Tuesday, February 11 (2pm to 4pm) is Hand Sewing Accessories in LIB 111 on the first floor. Learn the basics of sewing your own accessories by hand! Free to all UAH Students. Space/Supplies might be limited.

Then, later this week, there will be Editing Out the Chaos. The second part of the "Making Movies" special series for Makers Thursdays. This event will be on Thursday, February 13 from 2:30pm to 4:00pm in the MultiMaker Lab, LIB 115. It will feature Adobe Premiere Pro. 

 

A Pair of Valentine's Events

On February 13, the library has its first of a pair of odd-couple Valentine's Events. Two-Minute Tarot is a quick for fun fortune telling experience where you can get your tarot reading in two minutes or less. Non-romantic readings are also available. This will be from 1pm to 3pm. Swing by the Lobby to sign up.

Then, on Valentine's Day itself the library is having the Anti-Valetine's Tea and Craft. The perfect event for those people who just want to drink tea and make fun crafts in silence. This will be on Friday, February 14, from 2pm to 4pm. Also in the Lobby.

 Celebrating the Year of the Snake

Celebrating the Year of the Snake will be on Sunday, February 16 (4pm to 6pm) in LIB 126 (the Library Commons). It will be a celebration of the new year with free food - longevity noodles, veg options available - free snacks, and free crafts. Open to all UAH students and completely free while supplies last. 

Cafe de la UAH's Vinay Salikineedi Creates Robotic Barista

After Vinay Salikineedi opened Cafe de la UAH he realized that good customer service while also making good coffee had some challenges, so he came up with a novel solution with his roommate: a robotic barista that could handle the coffee craft while the person handles the customer service. 

"For the baristas who are working making coffee and also providing a good customer service was kind of a little bit harder and I didn’t like for it to push them to throw away good customer service and push their limits to make good coffee," he told WHNT
