The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) has announced Lauri Millot has been chosen as the new Title IX Coordinator for UAH. Millot comes to UAH, a part of The University of Alabama System, from her most recent position as Director for Title IX Equity and Compliance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pa.
Millot is tasked with coordinating the efforts of those members of the UAH community who are responsible for carrying out Title IX investigations. She brings a wealth of experience to the position. In addition to her work in Philadelphia, she has served as Institutional Compliance Officer, Title IX Coordinator and Section 504 Coordinator at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.
"It is an honor and privilege to step into this role at UAH,” Millot says. “I am excited to work transparently and collaboratively to ensure a harassment-free living, learning and working environment for all students, faculty, staff and guests, while expanding the compliance infrastructure to better protect individuals and the institution."
In addition to her most recent experience, Millot acted as Executive Director, Title IX Coordinator, Section 504, for New Mexico State University, as well as Hearing Examiner, Arbitrator and Mediator for the State of Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission.

Millot received her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and her Doctor of Law Jurisprudence degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) was passed founded on the principal that "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Additionally, Title IX addresses sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination and sexual violence. Title IX expressly prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding.
