The Graduate School at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) hosted its annual UAH Graduate Poster Session in the Student Services Building on the UAH campus, a part of the University of Alabama System. The competition was open to graduate students across disciplines and attracted participants from a wide variety of research and creative scholarship.

This year’s program attracted 28 entrants who presented on projects ranging from modeling electron acceleration and tree crop mapping, to exploring galactic clusters and using artificial intelligence to aid in hostage rescue simulations.

“One of my favorite aspects of this event is hearing students speak about their research with such excitement and insight,” says Simone Frazier, UAH graduate resource coordinator. “Visitors to the event repeatedly commented on how impressed they were with the students’ work.”

Winning entries were selected by 15 faculty judges from the UAH Colleges of Education, Engineering, Nursing and Science, as well as the Honors College. Graduate participants who converted their current research into the most compelling presentations took home cash prizes.

“We are grateful for the support we received from the colleges,” Frazier says. “The faculty judges are critical to the success of this event. Their expertise and engagement with the students elevate this from a competition to a true learning experience.”

Visitors to the event not only had an opportunity to learn more about graduate research, but were also able to support the students by providing presenters with feedback and advice.
