Barksdale is a higher education professional, social and cultural enthusiast, program developer, business owner and clinician who advocates for professional and personal growth, community engagement and holistic health practices for students and community members. His leadership approach focuses on active listening and creative instruction, allowing him to provide sound wisdom and increase program engagement. He is the assistant director of professional development and engagement and an adjunct professor for the Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama. He is also the chief operating officer and co-founder of LEADingWell, an educational and holistic development and wellness consulting initiative. Dr. Barksdale is a three-time alumnus of The University of Alabama and has over 15 years of experience in education and holistic development. While his professional platform and advocacy are founded in community health and education, his academic profile centers on psychology and sociology, counselor education, and higher education administration. As a rising professional, he seeks to advance individual and community development. He merges physical, mental, social, and spiritual health through education and training, allowing individuals to lead healthy and sustainable lives. Dr. Barksdale has served in various leadership capacities and on many panels. He is a member of the inaugural Gandhi-King Scholarly Exchange Program and various prestigious academic honor societies. He is also the recipient of several academic accolades, scholarships, and grants.
