The University of Alabama in Huntsville is a research university and all faculty in the OSE program solicit external government and private industry funding to support graduate students. Some of the topics below are restricted to US citizen students however. Current research in optics at UAH includes: Optical entanglement and orbital angular momentum photon generation Optical sensors, to include high resolution index of refraction experiments Optical scattering, to include spectropolarimetry measurements X-ray grazing incidence optics Solid state thin film displays Holographic polarimetry and holographic optical surface metrology High energy Lasers and propagation of high energy laser beams through the atmosphere Nanophotonics, energy transfer in hybrid inorganic-biological nanostructures Opto-plasmonic processes, and device applications of quantum mechanical processes Bio-physical nanosensors, quantum devices, plasmonics Quantum coherence processes in atomically thin semiconductor structures Large (space telescope) optics Optical scattering in chemical dynamic processes Gravitational lensing Ultrafast nanophotonics and frequency combs Fiber optic sensors Radio telescope sensitivity improvement
