Facility Rules and Regulations
  • Please scan your membership ID every time you enter the facility. If you do not have your membership ID, you may be asked for photo identification.
  • A $10 guest fee will be charged for anyone wishing to use the facility that is not a current member.
  • A valid photo ID is required to check out fitness and sports equipment. The same piece of equipment must be returned in order to retrieve your ID.
  • Shirt and shoes are required (except in the pool area). No open-toed shoes are allowed other than the pool area. Shirts must cover the entire torso and shorts must cover the entire buttocks. We reserve the right to ask you to leave or change clothes if inappropriate attire is worn.
  • Yelling, profanity, rude or boisterous behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Children under the age of 10 desiring to use the weight room or cardio area must schedule an appointment with the Fitness staff. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a parent at ALL times. We reserve the right to ask children to leave for misbehavior.
  • University Recreation is not responsible for items left unattended. Please lock up all your personal items in the locker rooms. All unclaimed lost and found items will be donated to charity after 2 weeks.
  • For the consideration of other members, please wipe down the equipment after use, dispose of trash and drop all towels in the towel bins.
Studio Rules and Regulations
  • Please avoid wearing strong perfumes in the fitness rooms.
  • Studios may be used by individual members anytime there is not a class or cleaning scheduled. The room is not supervised; exercise at your own risk.
  • Members interested in reserving a studio must request the space online using the Facility Reservation Request form located at uah.edu/recreation.
  • University Recreation is not responsible for items left unattended. Please lock up all your personal items in the locker rooms.
  • Please put away all equipment when you have finished with it.
Weight Room Rules and Regulations
  • To ensure a comfortable atmosphere for everyone, please be courteous and respectful of others.
  • Yelling, profanity, and loud noises will not be tolerated.
  • Wear proper attire, which includes athletic shoes (no open-toed shoes), shirts that cover the entire torso and shorts that cover the entire buttocks.
  • Allow others to “work-in” or take turns.
  • Pick up all personal items, including towels, water bottles, trash, etc.
  • Gym bags and personal items are only allowed in designated areas of the Weight Room.
    University Recreation is not responsible for any items left unattended. Please lock up all of your personal items in the locker rooms.
  • Do not monopolize several pieces of equipment while others are waiting.
  • The use of chalk is strictly limited to liquid chalk. Exemptions from this include but are not limited to: competitions, or the discretion of the Fitness Technician on the clock.
  • Return and rack weights when finished. If you are using a plate-loaded machine, strip the machine and return the weights.
  • Collars must be used on free weight bars at ALL times.
  • Refrain from excessive weight dropping and/or slamming of weights. Exemptions include but are not limited to: bailing from a maximal effort load, overhead, or olympic lifts.
  • Be considerate of others and wipe down equipment after use.
  • Children under the age of 10 desiring to strength train need to schedule an appointment with the fitness staff. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the Weight Room.
  • Members needing a new exercise program should schedule an appointment in the fitness office.
    If you need assistance, please ask a member of the Fitness staff.
  • No food is allowed in the Weight Room. Liquids are allowed in closed containers only.
Cardio Area Rules and Regulations

Track Rules and Regulations
  • Run on inner lanes. Walk on outer lanes.
  • Please be courteous to others walking and running. No more than 2 people should walk or run side by side.
    Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times. Appropriate closed-toe athletic shoes only. Track cleats are not allowed.
  • Yelling, profanity, rude or boisterous behavior will not be tolerated.

Gymnasium Rules and Regulations
  • Athletic shoes only on the courts. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times.
  • No dunking or hanging on the basketball goals
  • Yelling, profanity, rude or boisterous behavior will not be tolerated.
  • All sports equipment must be checked out and returned at the Front Desk. A valid photo ID will be required to check out equipment.
  • Limit game time to 30 minutes when others are waiting to play.
  • University Recreation is not responsible for any items left unattended. Please lock up all of your personal items in a locker.
Aquatics Rules and Regulations
  • No running allowed on the pool deck.
  • Glass or sharp objects are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • For your safety, diving is not permitted. Please enter the pool at the stairs, ladders, or feet first.
  • Fighting, excessive horseplay, or other disruptive behavior is not permitted in the pool area.
  • No food or drinks in the pool area.
  • Please shower before entering the pool.
  • Anyone with large open wounds and/or infections or communicable disease will not be permitted to use the pool.
  • If an infant or toddler has an “accident” while in the water, please notify the Aquatics staff immediately.
  • The pool will close for a minimum of 30 minutes when lightning is detected within a 10 mile radius of the facility. 
  • All patrons must be wearing a swimsuit. No exceptions! No basketball shorts, yoga pants, sports bras, or t-shirts are allowed. *Yoga pants and t-shirts may be worn as long as the base layer is a swimsuit.
Locker Room Rules and Regulations
  • Cell phones MAY NOT BE USED in the locker room for any purpose.
  • Lockers are available for day use or for semester rental.
  • University Recreation is not responsible for any items left unattended. Please lock up all of your personal items in a locker.
  • Showers will close 15 minutes prior to closing time.
  • Please notify a Supervisor or the Front Desk staff if the locker room needs attention.

Children's Policy

All children must be members to use any part of the facility and must check in at the front desk using their own barcode.

0-3 months: Children under 3 months can be brought to the UFC in a car seat or stroller with their parent. Parent must keep their baby with them at all times. Permitted areas: Cardio Area, Track, Gymnasium, Pool

3 months-8 years: Children between 3 months and 8 years may use permitted areas of the building with parental supervision at all times. Permitted areas: Track, Gymnasium, Pool

9 years-15 years: Children between 9 and 15 years may use the entire facility with parental supervision at all times. Parents are responsible for ensuring they follow all UFC rules and regulations.

16 years and older: Children 16 years and older can use the entire facility, including participating in group exercise classes, without direct supervision of a parent; however, both child and parent are responsible for child following all rules and regulations.

Children can never be left in the lobby while parents participate in other areas. Children under 16 must be supervised at all times.

UFC Hang Tag Policy

  • Please display the hang tag on your vehicle's interior rearview mirror.
  • Parking will be enforced weekdays between 7:30am and 5:30pm. You may park anywhere around the facility outside of these hours. 
  • UFC has two dedicated "UFC Patron" parking areas: the north end of the main parking lot and the lot behind the facility. In addition, the first two levels of the parking deck can be used for overflow. UAH students, faculty, and staff are NOT PERMITTED to use the "UFC Patron" parking areas.
  • If you forget your hang tag (e.g. are using a different vehicle or have recently changed vehicles), please see the front desk for assistance.
  • If you receive a citation, please bring the ticket to the front desk. If you have received a citation for parking in a parking area NOT zoned for "UFC Patron," you must bring the citation to the UAH Police Department.
  • Please remember to renew your hang tag at the end of each calendar year.

Billing Policy

All billing is processed on the 5th of the month, or the first business day following the 5th. It is the member's responsibility to contact the UFC any time there is a change in their billing situation. For billing questions or issues, contact the UFC Finance Director at ufc_finance@uah.edu.

Contract Termination Policy

As stated in the contract, all memberships are month to month and are subject to two-week termination notice prior to bill date.
