Thomas J. (T.J.) Brecciaroli has been named Dean of Students at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). He began his duties on Sept. 1.

"T.J. Brecciaroli is perhaps the most loyal and committed student advocate I have ever associated with. His passion to educate, and genuine caring nature is precisely what we were looking for in a Dean of Students," said John Maxon Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at UAH. "I am excited to see how the Dean of Students Office continues the transformation that has already begun under T.J.'s leadership as Interim Dean to becoming the one-stop student (and parent) location for all student related matters."

Brecciaroli has been serving as Interim Dean of Students at UAH since July 2015.

"I am excited about this opportunity to serve the UAH community. Over the past year, I have been overwhelmed by the support of colleagues from across campus and grateful to have such a hardworking staff, who have helped redefine the role of the Dean of Students Office," said T.J. Brecciaroli. "From caring for students in crisis to providing advocacy, education, and support services, I feel privileged that everyday I'm able to connect with students and empower them to succeed at UAH. I am honored to be chosen to represent the university in this capacity."

Before his appointment as Dean of Students at UAH, Brecciaroli served the university as Assistant Dean of Students from March 2013 to June 2015. His previous academic appointments include Director of Residence Life in the Division of Student Affairs at Saint Francis University (Loretto, PA), Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life in the Division of Student Affairs at Carson-Newman College (Jefferson City, TN), and Director of Residential Life in the Division of Student Affairs at Huntingdon College (Montgomery, AL). Brecciaroli is a member of numerous academic organizations including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association, and the Association of Title IX Administrators. His additional professional experience includes a member of the State Board of Directors for NASPA, President of the Board for Thrive Alabama and a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Huntingdon College and earned a Master of Science degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Indiana University-Bloomington. Brecciaroli is completing a Doctor of Science in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University.
