I am pleased to announce that we have taken steps to fill two key positions at the university. Bob Lindquist has been named Vice President of Research and Economic Development while Mallie Hale has been chosen Vice President of University Advancement.

Dr. Lindquist joined UAH in 2003 as a faculty member in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and was chair of the department from 2010 to 2014. During his career at UAH, he also served as Director of the Center for Applied Optics from 2005 to 2010, Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development, and has been the Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development since May 2018

Bob’s research interests include chemical and biological sensors, fiber optics, plasmonics, photonics and terahertz components mostly using liquid crystalline materials. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Mallie joined UAH in 2016 as the Senior Director of Alumni Relations and Executive Director of UAH Alumni Association. She has served as Interim Vice President for University Advancement and Interim Executive Director of the UAH Foundation since July 2018.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Mallie received her Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham-Southern College and her Master of Arts degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham where she served as a Major Gifts Officer within the Department of Medicine. She has also worked in Advancement at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham-Southern College.  Mallie is an active member of the Huntsville Rotary Club along with several other professional organizations.
