Update 09/11/21:
We're happy to report that the problem was resolved this evening.
The reason for the outage was a cut cable belonging to AT&T.
If you need anything from the Office of Information Technology, please contact us at helpdesk@uah.edu.
AT&T, Lumen, and potentially other providers' customers are currently unable to dial UAH local numbers. The issue appears to be caused by a routing error outside of UAH's network.
To work around this issue:
- Determine the UAH extension you are trying to reach by taking the last four digits of the phone number. For example, the OIT Help Desk is at +1 (256) 824 3333, so the extension is 3333.
- Dial +1 (800) 824 2255. (800-UAH-CALL)
- When you hear "Thank you for calling," dial the four-digit extension you'd like to reach.
Alternatively, you may use any phone that utilizes a different carrier to make the phone call; for example, T-Mobile or Verizon phones can reach UAH.
