Colleagues,

I’m pleased to announce that, after serving in an interim capacity for two years, Dr. Rhonda Gaede has been appointed Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education.

As many of you are aware, Dr. Gaede has been with UAH since 1992 when she joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Appropriate to her role as associate provost, she is passionate about undergraduate education and has been awarded the University Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Gaede also has served in a variety of administrative roles, including Acting Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education in the College of Engineering, Interim Dean of the Graduate School, and Associate Chair of the ECE department. During her time as Interim Associate Provost, she has overseen the Enhanced Teaching and Learning Center, Student Success Center, the Academic Support and Advocacy Program, Disability Support Services, and the Registrar’s Office.

Among other accomplishments while interim associate provost, Dr. Gaede has: led efforts implementing electronic workflow processes in Academic Affairs, including curricular changes and the various forms for the division; transitioned the academic catalogs to a new, consolidated platform; stepped in as point of contact for Faculty 180; spearheaded efforts to redesign the University Mace; helped return the North Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair to an in-person event on campus; organized a UAH Day at Calhoun Community College; and convened a team to re-envision convocation to welcome new students to UAH and further their connection to the university

I’m thankful for Dr. Gaede’s contributions to date and look forward to her continued leadership in the Office of Academic Affairs.
