Join the Humanities Center, the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and the Department of Philosophy for the final public lectures by Professor Bryan Van Norden, 2023 Visiting Eminent Scholar. 

Professor Van Norden is a leading international scholar of Chinese philosophy. In “From the Opium War to Xi Jinping: How China Became a Superpower,” Prof Van Norden explains how China went from a “Century of Humiliation,” in which it was bullied by Western powers and Japan, to being a superpower, and how attitudes toward traditional thought have changed over time.

This event is free and open to anyone.
