UAH Theatre is holding auditions for its mainstage production of Airness, a comedy about air guitar competitions, written by Chelsea Marcantel, and directed by Amy Guerin. 

Auditions are Monday, August 21 from 6:45 to 7:30 for majors, and from 7:30-8:30pm for non-majors and community members, in the Morton Blackbox. Majors should prepare a one-minute comedic monologue, and bring a resume and headshot; and, non-majors and community members can prepare a one-minute comedic monologue, or be given a monologue to read.

Airness needs 7 total actors, 2 of whom can play female-presenting characters, 4 of whom can play male-presenting characters, 1 actor of any gender presentation, and at least three actors as understudies. There is one consensual romantic kiss between the characters of Nina and Shreddy Eddy at the end of the play.

Rehearsals will begin the week of September 11 and occur on Monday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Friday evenings, based on actor availability until October 13, 2023. Fall Break we will not rehearse. Starting October 16, 2023 rehearsal will occur Monday through Friday evenings. Performances are November 1-5, Wednesday through Sunday.

Callbacks are on Wednesday, August 23 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Morton Hall Blackbox Theatre. Callbacks will be a presentation of a 30 second air guitar routine and cold-reading scenes from the play.
