Join the FTPP Graduate Student Working Group!

All graduate Alabama STEM students, with a special focus on physics, are welcome to join this group.

The Graduate Student Working Group will be co-chaired by grad students Katherine Davidson (UAH) and Jared Powell (AU). Our idea is to meet via Zoom once a month, with topics of discussion to be determined by the group. The meetings will generally involve presentations of student research, engaging in featured guest speaker presentations, and generally building and developing an AL-wide graduate student base that has an interest in physics. The upcoming virtual meeting will be on September 22, 2023.

We will be doing a raffle for one lucky participant for a $50 gift card to Mellow Mushroom!

• Guest Speaker: We will be having a lecture and discussion with Dr. Bernabe Tucker. Dr. Tucker received his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was a CERIF GRA under the CPU2AL project. He now works as a scientist at Evonik. Dr. Tucker will be discussing his work and his decision to go into industry. We will also have a chance to ask questions about his experiences.

The group is sponsored by FTPP, Future Technologies & Enabling Plasma Processes, a cooperative agreement. The grant is a 10-member university and industry consortium and is led by The University of Alabama in Huntsville. More information on the GSWG.
