Biography
Daniel W. Jean is a Landscape Specialist at UAH. He has been employed at UAH for 7 years and has 35 years of experience in the landscape industry. Daniel grew up in the Tennessee Valley, falling in love with our local landscapes. He spent time hiking, camping and learning from local YMCA Indian Guides, who gave him a basic understanding of native forest growth. His father owned a landscape installation company where he gained an understanding of the landscape industry. He found his passion for designing natural, low maintenance landscaping early in his career. With his father’s guidance, he developed a local style of design, mimicking the Monte Sano and Tennessee Valley natural landscapes. His knowledge of botanical identification and insect and environmental risks grew after years of completing beautiful installations. He learned how to incorporate nature in hardscapes and ponds by adding indigenous species. He is also skilled in the specialized pruning of specimen plants such as Japanese Maples, Crepemrytles, and Contorted Hazelnut. Daniel will share his knowledge and experience as he teaches you how to grow and care for plants in your home landscapes.
