The Alabama Technology Network is excited to announce the first workshop in our Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 series and we would greatly appreciate your assistance in sharing this opportunity with the companies you support. This workshop will be incredibly beneficial for manufacturers looking to enhance their operations through Lean practices and Industry 4.0 technologies. While we are providing this workshop as part of our Alabama Defense Advanced Manufacturing Community, the workshop is open to all interested companies.

Schedule:

7:30 - 8:30 AM: Tour RTP (Pre-Workshop)
8:30 AM - 1:15 PM: Lean 4.0 Workshop (Box Lunch Included)
1:15 PM - 1:30 PM: Independent travel to YKTA
1:30 - 2:30PM: Tour YKTA

  • Industry Tour: Tour the YKTA facility to see real-world applications of Lean and Industry 4.0.
    • Y-tec Keylex Toyotetsu Alabama, Inc. (YKTA) is an on-site, tier-one supplier for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) based in Madison, AL. With a 750,000-square-foot facility that provides MTM with stamped metal chassis components and body components, YKTA is a joint Venture of 3 very successful automotive companies: Y-tec (Mazda supplier, manufactures automotive parts and provides jigs and dies), Keylex (Expert in design and manufacture of vehicle body parts, also designs and manufactures jigs and dies), and Toyotetsu (Primarily a Toyota supplier with 6 other North American sites). Being awarded Emerging Manufacturer of the Year in 2022, YKTA is a clear example of how using Lean concepts and Industry 4.0 technologies can significantly contribute to a company's success by enhancing efficiency, agility, and innovation across various operations.
  • Pre-Workshop Tour of RTP Facility:
    • AIDT Robotics Technology Park (RTP): is a three (3) building campus targeted to the needs of the robotics industry. This $71 million investment broke ground in 2009 and completed phase 1 the following year. By 2016, RTP had completed Phase 2, Phase 3, and implemented the RTP Mobile Robotic Training Lab, which is designed to give k-12 students, teachers, and parents a hands-on experience introduction to the latest technology within the robotics industry.
