Offered through Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
Learn the vital lessons of liberty as you visit Alabama’s monument to the nation’s founding in Montevallo. The American Village – designed to be a classroom, a stage, a theater, and a museum of ideas – seeks to strengthen and renew the foundations of American liberty and constitutional self-government by engaging and inspiring citizens and leaders. Continue your understanding of the cost of liberty with a visit to the Alabama National Cemetery, the final resting place of those who served to defend those said liberties. The tour will also include a drive through Montevallo University and Orr Park, which contains old cedar trees that have been carved into faces, figures, storybook characters, and even a dragon. Transportation and admission to museums are included in your field trip fee. The cost of meals and souvenirs are not included.
