Celebrate 2024 UAH Alumni and Family weekends Sept. 19-22

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will hold Alumni Weekend 2024 Sept. 19-22 on the UAH campus. These four days of celebrations, food and fellowship are sponsored by the Alumni Association at UAH, a part of the University of Alabama System. This year, Alumni Weekend coincides with Fall Family Weekend from Sept. 20-22, hosted by Parent and Family Programs at UAH.

The Alumni Weekend festivities begin with the Alumni of Achievement Awards Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 19, on campus. The reception is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Honorees from each academic college and one Outstanding Young Alumnus will be recognized for their professional and personal successes. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, current students and alumni will face off as part of the Esports Challenge event, sponsored by the new Esports Alumni Chapter. Alumni will compete with current students as they play games including Minecraft, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, plus Rocket League and Call of Duty team events. The Esports Challenge will be held in the Conference Training Center (CTC) Exhibit Hall from Noon-4 p.m. All are welcome! Note that registration is required to participate in the challenge. The first 50 paid registrants will receive an Esports Challenge t-shirt, while supplies last.

The festivities continue with Family Fun Day on the CTC Lawn from 3-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome at this event for Chargers of all ages. Alumni, current students and their families, faculty and staff can eat and play. This event is free and open to the public.

The Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday evening on the UAH campus beginning at 4:30 p.m. The Department of Athletics will recognize seven alumni and Charger Champions for their extraordinary accomplishments and contributions as a Charger. Registration is required, and seating is limited.

Saturday activities culminate in the Charger Tipoff, a fun-filled event that invites alumni, family and friends to get charged up for the season! The event includes a preview of the UAH men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as introductions by men’s basketball coach Mick Hedgepeth and women’s basketball coach Allen Sharpe. Hosted by the UAH Alumni Association and Department of Athletics, the event takes place on Sat., Sept. 21, from 8-10 p.m. in Spragins Hall on the UAH campus. The event is complimentary and open to the public.

The weekend wraps up with the “See You Soon Breakfast” on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 9-11 a.m. at the Charger Café on the UAH campus. All UAH family and alumni are invited to attend a special breakfast to celebrate both Family and Alumni Weekends! This event is free to alumni and families, as well as current students and their families.
