Biography

Eugene Fleeman is a highly accomplished professional with a career spanning over 50 in the design and development of missile systems. His experience spans several industries including the federal government, industry, academia and consulting.

Mr. Fleeman began his career at the U.S. Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Airforce Base in Ohio where he held a series of important positions. He served as the manager of advanced weapons and aircraft survivability, manager of missile stability and control technology, manager of the air slew missile technology demonstration program, senior engineer for missile stability and control technology and research engineer for hypersonic flight control technology. Notably, he played a critical role in numerous strategic programs including bomber missile defense, advanced strategic air-launched missiles, X-24 lifting body of the manned reentry vehicle and the advanced maneuvering reentry vehicle (AMRV).

Following his tenure at the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, Mr. Leeman joined Rockwell International where he furthered his contributions to the field. He held key positions including advanced sensor systems manager, strategic planning manager, advanced missile systems manager, missile systems analysis and systems engineering manager, and missile design and technology development manager. He was involved in the development of important programs including Nemesis imaging infrared threat warning sensor, FastHawk ramjet missile, PAC-3 radar seeker, advanced missile defense interceptor, low observable weapon, small low-cost interceptor device, advanced precision kill weapon system, HELLFIRE anti-tank missile, AGM-130 air-to-surface missile, advanced anti-armor weapon system, TOW missile follow-on and the advanced air-to-air missile.

Later, Mr. Fleeman accepted the role of deputy director of hypersonic design and applications at Boeing, where he contributed to projects like the affordable rapid response missile demonstrator and the X-43 Hyper-X Demonstrator. Subsequently, he transitioned to academia where he served as a senior technical advisor, lecturer and advisor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Currently, Mr. Fleeman shares his wealth of knowledge and experience in missile design and development and systems engineering as a consultant. He has authored over 200 technical publications including four textbooks. His textbooks and short courses on Missile Design, Development, and System Engineering emphasize physics-based prediction methods, for enhanced insight, speed and accuracy in the conceptual design process.
